Mary McGrath

AGE 83 ∙ Gloucester City, NJ

 

After a courageous fight, Mary left this world on June 07, 2013, with family at her side. Wife \"Images-3\" of the late Thomas W. McGrath, Sr. Daughter of the late Robert J. and Williamina Hughes. Sister of Doris HughesSchemel, and the late Robert, William and George Hughes. Survived by sons, Thomas W. McGrath, Jr., Gerald P. (Carol) McGrath and daughter Nancy J. (Arthur) Close. Also survived by 6 loving grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 nieces, 5 nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. 

 

Born in Camden, Mary moved to Norfolk Va. for a short stay before making her home in Gloucester City. Graduated from Gloucester City High School’s class of 1947, where she was a member of the Chums. She worked as a secretary, salesclerk and payroll clerk for many companies including: Thomas Marshall Lumber Co., Horn &Hardart and Woolworth before marriage and becoming a full time loving Mom. She returned to work later in life for Nash Engraving Co. and McGrath Electric. Mary was a very giving and caring person, always with a laugh and smile, loved her husband of 54 years and her family dearly. She maintained her loving personality through many long years of suffering the devastation of strokes. She enjoyed the afternoon soaps, church, traveling, crocheting, picture taking and sharing time with family and friends. 


Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing at the Etherington-Creran Funeral Home, 700 Powell Street, Gloucester City (www.etheringtonfh.com) on Wednesday, June 12 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, or at St Luke’s and the Epiphany Church, 330 South 13th Street, Philadelphia, Pa. on Thursday, June 13 between 10:00 and 11:00 AM. Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow. Interment will be held at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson. There will be special parking at the church.
