Woodbury jaywalker’s weapons conviction affirmed

A weapon possession conviction that led to a 10-year prison sentence for Anthony T. Young (DOB 8/19/85), of Woolwich Township NJ was affirmed by a state appeals court.

In a 19-page decision, the court rejected the argument that the arresting Woodbury NJ police officer did not have a valid reason to arrest and seize a loaded firearm from Young after the defendant and another man jaywalked on South Broad St. on 12/2/11. Young had no permit to carry the .32 cal. handgun.
