SEA GIRT NJ–For those of you who don\’t know, Sat Sri Akal is a term exclusively used by Sikhs to greet each other.
This is just one of the many things that our latest group of recruits learned about the Sikh community last week at the New Jersey State Police Academy in Sea Girt.
Amman Seehra and Kiran Gill shared the rich history and culture of the Sikh community to our recruits during a cultural awareness presentation.
We value the importance of better understanding the diverse cultures of the communities we serve. Through programs like these, we are equipping our future troopers with the tools to better serve all of the citizens of our state.
After the program, Amman Seehra was presented a certificate of appreciation by Captain Salvatore Munafo, Commandant of the New Jersey State Police Academy and Assistant Bureau Chief, Lieutenant Jeanne Hengemuhle, for volunteering their time to speak with our recruits.
