THE JUDGE IGNORES THE TESTIMONY OF TWO EYE WITNESSES
PHILADELPHIA PA JULY 23, 2015 (CNBNewsnet)—NOT GUILTY! said Judge Sean Kennedy at the trial today for Nathaniel Maybin Jr. held at the Philadelphia Justice Center, 13th Street, and Gilbert Avenue. After announcing his verdict, Kennedy got up and walked into his chambers as cheers and applause could be heard coming from Maybin’s family and friends.
Today’s trial was a continuance of last week’s proceedings which was delayed after Maybin\’s attorney, Allan Sagot, requested a postponement because a witness for the defense was supposedly ill and unable to attend.
Maybin was charged with attempting to murder David Woods Sr., a Gloucester City resident, in West Philadelphia on February 20, 2014. Two nearby video cameras had captured the attacker hitting the victim with a hammer as he walked out of the Maple Deli, at 49th and Lancaster. Woods worked in Philadelphia, New York and at the Jersey shore installing steel security doors. On the day he was assaulted he and his friend Bernard Williams had just finished installing a door in the area.

Woods was struck so hard with the hammer he suffered a fractured skull. As a result of the attack, he could not speak and he had no feeling on the right side of the body. Today, some of his speech has returned, but he still has no feeling on his right side. He also takes medication to control the seizures he suffers as a result of the trauma to his head. He can no longer work as he is totally disabled. His 27-year-old business was closed down.
