GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP\’s K-9 BRUTUS RETIRES

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP NJ–The Gloucester Township Police Department is proud to announce the retirement of Police K-9 Brutus. K-9 Brutus is a 9 year old \"\"German Shepherd who has loyally served his community and department alongside his handler Cpl. James Kaelin since December 2007.

K-9 Brutus was assigned with Cpl. Kaelin to the Patrol Bureau working as a nationally certified K-9 conducting narcotics scent work, numerous tracks, building clearings and other patrol duties. K-9 Brutus attended his K-9 training academy from September – December 2007. Cpl. Kaelin became a handler at the inception of the K-9 Unit in 1999. In addition to K-9 Brutus, Cpl. Kaelin has served with his first K-9 partner \”Atos\”.

\”I commend K-9 Brutus and Cpl. Kaelin for their dedication and commitment to the Gloucester Township Police Department and to the community of Gloucester Township. Together their actions helped protect many officers and helped apprehend some of our most dangerous criminals.\” said Chief Harry Earle.

K-9 Brutus, one of GTPD’s finest, will now be able to spend his days resting as a family pet with the Kaelin family.
