New report finds that the government over-promises again

There’s a lot of media attention given to the Social Security and Medicare promises made to Baby Boomers. Will these aging Americans actually get all the benefits that Uncle Sam has promised them? It’s difficult to say, and it’s looking more dubious by the day.

But C. Eugene Steuerle, a senior fellow at the Urban Institute, wanted to understand what Social Security is going to look like for Millennials when they reach retirement.

It’s no secret, after all, that members of our generation are paying a lot of money into the system with no guarantee that they’ll get it back. And one out of every four young Americans believes that our generation won’t actually get retirement benefits from it.
