WEST PENN TOWNSHIP PA–The Pennsylvania State Police along with local authorities are investigating an assault against an officer that occurred on September 2, 2015 at 5:15 p.m. in West Penn Township.
The suspect is an unknown Hispanic male operating a dark colored Nissan Maxima. He is described as 6\’2\” to 6\’4\” and 240 to 260 lb. The officer was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The American Mirror and ABC 6 identified the officer as West Penn Township Sergeant Melissa Ruch. She pulled her cruiser over on Pennsylvania’s Highway 309 and as she approached the \”disabled\” car, the man grabbed her and threw her over a guardrail. She tumbled down a steep 35-foot embankment, ABC 6 reports.
Ruch told officers she managed to use a stun gun on the man before she was thrown down the hill, the Times News reports.
