
Woodbury, NJ – John M. Cocco, 82, of Washington Township was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree possession of child sexual abuse material on Thursday, Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns announced.
According to documents filed in this case:
The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office received four tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about an individual uploading files of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). An investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at Cocco’s residence where several electronic devices allegedly belonging to Cocco were found. Forensic analysis of the devices found they contained 41,446 images and 103 videos of CSAM.
Cocco turned himself in to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday and is expected to appear in court on April 9, 2026.
The maximum term of incarceration for this charge is 10 years in state prison.
Prosecutor Johns credited the office’s High Tech Crimes Unit with the investigation that led to Cocco’s arrest. Prosecutor Johns also thanked the Washington Township Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Tactical Operations Team for their assistance in the investigation.
The charges contained in the complaint are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
