Burress petitions filled with ‘pervasive fraud’ and ‘procedural illegality’
CLIFTON, NJ — On Monday, March 30th, the Office of Administrative Law heard Gonzalez v. Burress to adjudicate a formal challenge to Tiffany Burress’s nominating petitions. The filing alleges the Burress campaign committed rampant and pervasive fraud to secure a spot on the June primary ballot.
“The Burress campaign has betrayed every Republican who cares about election integrity,” said Kenny Gonzalez, campaign manager for Rosie Pino. “As outlined in the filing, these petitions demonstrate a coordinated pattern of ghost circulation, signature harvesting, and willful perjury.”
Among the most explosive issues before the court are “stolen signatures.” The challenge alleges the campaign repurposed a restaurant sign-in sheet from a September 2025 political event at Bocaditos Bistro — collected months before Burress was even a registered Republican — and deceptively filed it as a 2026 Congressional endorsement. By treating a routine attendance log as a legal petition, the campaign effectively stole the identities and endorsements of voters who never intended to support Burress for Congress.
The filing further details the use of “shadow circulators” — where unlisted staff collected signatures they refused to swear to — and false affidavits signed by the Burress campaign manager, who swore under oath to witnessing signatures at events he never attended.
“The Burress campaign is running an out-of-touch, out-of-district candidate whose only contribution to our political discourse is her financial support of radical, left-wing Democrats — which is why she was rejected by Bergen County Republicans,” said Gonzalez.
“While Republicans across this country are fighting every day for election integrity, Tiffany Burress is proving that fraud can happen anywhere, on both sides of the aisle. This is a total disgrace to the process,” Gonzalez continued. “Lying to the state and stealing people’s identities just to get on a ballot is an insult to every voter in this district. The Division of Elections should do her a favor and remove Tiffany Burress from the ballot before voters reject her at the ballot box.”
New Jersey’s 9th Congressional District encompasses 35 municipalities in Passaic, Bergen, and Hudson Counties. President Trump swung the 9th District by 20 points in 2024, winning it by 1.1%. NJ-9 is a NRCC target seat and one of 13 Trump-won districts currently held by a Democrat.
