

Camden, NJ – Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in reference to a possible fatal assault in Camden, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.
On Monday, April 6, 2026, at approximately 3:05 p.m., emergency medical service personnel were dispatched to the 500 block of Clinton Street in Camden in reference to an unconscious male on the ground. The man – later identified as 51-year-old Thomas Haas Jr. of Camden – was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 4:10 p.m.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the Gloucester-Camden-Salem County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be blunt torso trauma and the manner of death to be homicide. During the investigation, detectives located surveillance video footage showing the victim’s prior moments throughout the city on Monday, April 6, 2026.
No video footage of an assault or a specific crime scene has been located at this time. Members of the public who may have seen Haas (pictured in surveillance images) between Saturday, April 4, 2026, and Monday April 6, 2026, are asked to contact detectives immediately.
