On Monday, May 18, 2026, 25th District officers apprehended 21-year-old Luis Antonio Bonet. Investigators with the Homicide Unit had previously identified Bonet as the suspect in the March 2025 incident. He is currently being held at the Homicide Unit, where formal charges against him are pending.

Officers immediately transported him to Temple University Hospital. Initially listed in critical condition, Diaz-Rodriguez later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 8:00 p.m.

The second victim, a 54-year-old female, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her legs. She was also transported to Temple University Hospital by 25th District officers, where she was treated and placed in stable condition.
