The Rutgers University baseball team collected 13 hits, including a record-tying home run from junior All-American Todd Frazier (Toms River South), to complete a series sweep of the University of South Florida with a 10-5 victory on Sunday in Tampa, Fla.
It was the second sweep of the season for the Big East-leading Scarlet Knights (24-14, 12-3).
Frazier added to a 7-5 lead with an eighth-inning solo homer to right, tying school career and single-season home run records. The blast was his 14th of the season, tying the record Frank Meade set in 2006 and 34th of his career, equaling the mark his older brother, Jeff Frazier, totaled from 2002-04.
Starting pitcher Casey Gaynor (Toms River East) pitched into the fourth inning before being relieved by Matt Patterson, who pitched his way out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam.
Patterson got his first career victory. Brothers Kevin and Chris Lillis, both CBA graduates, pitched three scoreless innings.
