The Camden County Board of Commissioners, in partnership with NJ TRANSIT, Senior Citizens United Community Services (SCUCS) and Gloucester County, will introduce a free transportation service for seniors and people with disabilities in Camden and Gloucester counties.
The CG Hopper, an on-demand shared-ride service operated by Via, will provide convenient, accessible transportation throughout the designated service area. The service will also connect riders to NJ TRANSIT services, expanding access to the broader transit network and providing more transportation options.
“I want to commend NJ TRANSIT for their forward thinking, progressive initiative to provide more access and opportunity to transportation options for our seniors and disabled community here in Camden County,” said Camden County Commissioner Jennifer Cooley Fleisher, liaison to the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services. “Anytime we can bring these options to the front doors of our residents we are bridging a real gap that will ultimately enhance the lives of our neighbors and improve the social determinants of health for every individual participating in the program.”
All senior residents (60+) and people with disabilities in Camden and Gloucester counties are eligible for rides on the CG Hopper. The fleet consists of five accessible Toyota Sienna minivans. Residents can book their rides through the CG Hopper app, online, or through the service’s support team. Qualified residents interested in registering for the program should contact SCUCS at (856) 456-1121.
