I just got back from Media Day at Rutgers for Sunday\’s New York/New Jersey All-Star Classic at Rutgers Stadium and here are a few brief notes. Also, look for a few features and other stories on the game in the coming days.
*The Will Hill Situation
As previously reported on ZAGSBLOG, Paterson Catholic DE and Rutgers recruit Al-Ghaffaar Lane is cousins with Will Hill, the multitalented junior athlete out of St. Peter\’s Prep.
The 6-3, 200-pound Hill is ranked No. 1 in the nation among athletes by Rivals.com, and is considering: Michigan, Rutgers, Florida, Ohio State, USC and Florida State. Lane said he hopes to get his cousin to join him at the New Jersey state school.
\”I don\’t say every time, \’Come to Rutgers, come to Rutgers, come to Rutgers,\’\” Lane said. \”It\’s already understood because we want to play with each other rather than against each other. So he has to do what\’s best for him.\”
Lane, Hill and Rutgers signee Al-Majid Hutchins out of East Orange Campus all grew up in East Orange, and Hutchins would also like to see Hill at RU.
\”I sit back and let him make his own decision,\” Hutchins said. \”I could only do so much. but it would be real good if he came here. He\’s probably a first-round (NFL) draft pick. He\’s physical, he\’s got the speed already and once he gets up here and gets coached up, there\’s no telling how good he can be.\” more
