Arlington, VA… Marymount (VA) University overcame a 19-point deficit in the first half and pulled out an 81-73 victory over The College of New Jersey women’s basketball team on Sunday.
The loss knocked the Lions to 6-3 on the season with two of those losses coming against the Saints, which remained undefeated at 7-0 on the season.
TCNJ held a 29-10 lead with 10:01 remaining in the opening half before the hosts went on a 28-10 run to close to within a point at 39-38 at the half.
Marymount took its first lead 1:35 into the new half at 42-41 and then built an eight-point lead at 57-49 at the 12:15 mark. The Lions roared back to take a four-point lead at 63-59 with 8:36 to play.
The Saints reclaimed the lead for good on a 3-pointer making it a 71-69 game.
TCNJ received a double-double from junior Hillary Klimowicz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) as the center scored 19 points and added 10 rebounds.
Junior Lisa Koch (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp.) added 14 points and five assists for the Lions and sophomore Alex Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) chipped in with 12 points.
