Hugh R. Crossan, age 72, of Audubon, Retired Postal Employee, Community Activist

CROSSAN,Hugh R. Age 72 of Audubon, passed away while surrounded by his family at Lourdes Medical Center in Camden on Tuesday February 17, 2009.

Mr. Crossan was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 23, 1937 and spent all of his early years growing up in West Phila. As a young man, Hugh had faithfully defended his country as a Private First Class in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1961. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a Data Technician Specialist and worked at the 30 th Street Station and the Philadelphia International Airport.

 Mr. Crossan married Diane (nee Rippel), his wife of 45 years, and moved out to the suburbs in Jersey settling in Audubon, NJ where they would raise their large family. Hugh is the dedicated father of Hugh Crossan, Steven & his wife Rosie Crossan, David Crossan, Laura Crossan, Daniel Crossan, Gregory & his wife Rebecca Crossan, Seth & his wife Jennifer Crossan and Kevin Crossan. He is the proud grandfather of 6 with one on the way and is also survived by his sister Elizabeth McKenzie. Mr. Crossan will be fondly remembered as a proud Irishman and humble humanitarian. He was a deeply involved, caring community man. Hugh was a member of the Audubon Fathers\’ Association. He was an avid sports fan and had coached for the Audubon Parkside Lodge, F&AM, the Audubon Little League for 30 years, the Oaklyn Cougars Football and always seemed to show up at the wrestling matches too. Hugh was also an avid photographer and had captured a lifetime of moments of his family, his children and all the excitement on the field of play.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the Crossan family to remember and pay tribute to Hugh on Saturday evening between 6 and 9 pm at the HENRY FUNERAL HOME 152 W. Atlantic Ave. Audubon. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Audubon Little League P.O. Box 33 Audubon, NJ 08106 or to the American Diabetes Association, Southern Regional Chapter 1060 Kings Highway Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
