History, tradition, blue sea,and mountains. It was a perfect setting and relaxing experience indeed. For it was October 1980 and what a great place for a honeymoon.
We had a most wonderful stay the weather was cool but not cold and we also enjoyed the local hot spring spa, indoor and outdoor baths with a beautiful view of the sea and surrounding mountain side.We visited so many interesting places here in Japan but this was one of the highlights of our Japan experience.
Our first stop was at:Itsukushima Shrine,in perfect harmony with natural beauty of Mt. Misen\’s primeval forest,it was designated as a World Cultural Heritage center.Japan\’s magnificent properties will be passed on to world to enjoy in the future.
On our second stop was at:O-Torii Gate, standing in the sea, vermilion colored O-Torii Gate is known as the symbol of Miyajima. It is about 16 meters tall with it\’s main pillars some 10 meters in circumference. The present O-Torii was built in 1875,the eight time to be rebuilt since the Heian Period.
Our third stop was at: Senjokaku and Five-Storied Pagoda, Senjokau is a library of Buddhist sutras and the Lord Hideyoshi Toyotomi started to build in the lrimoya style for the repose of the war dead.
