Bellmawr Approves $190,000 Bond Law for Road Repairs

Mrs. Connie Kucharski received a proclamation from Bellmawr for the National Day of Prayer during the recent April Borough Council Meeting.

Councilwoman Regina Piontkowski made the presentation with Rev. Vincent Kovlak, Pastor of Bellmawr Baptist Church.

The 58th annual eventwas held Thursday, May 7, and was marked by a small, outdoor prayer service in front of Borough Hall.

In other business, Council President Steve Sauter chaired the meeting in the absence of Mayor Frank Filipek Sr., who was under the weather.

Under committee reports, Councilman Lou Di Angelo said the annual Easter Egg Hunt went very well, adding it ran longer than normal at approximately 20 minutes. Past hunts have been done in five minutes.

All resolutions and ordinances on the agenda were approved.

Okayed on first reading was a bond ordinance for $190,000 for road repairs on portions of Alcyon Drive, Lincoln Avenue, Park Drive, Saunders Avenue, Second Avenue and Wayne Road.

In addition to road repair, these streets will also receive partial reconstruction and overlay. The 500 block of Lincoln Avenue will also receive storm water repair.

Councilman John Bollinger cast the lone \”no\” vote during the roll call.

The second reading and public hearing will be during at the May Council Meeting Thursday, May 25.
