NATE BUMP SIGNED BY DETROIT TIGERS ORGANIZATION

Riversharks’ Ace to Report to Detroit’s AAA Affiliate
POSTED: 7/6/2009

The Riversharks announced today that right handed pitcher Nate Bump has signed a contract with the Detroit Tigers organization. He will join Detroit’s AAA team, the Toledo Mud Hens, of the International League. He is slated to pitch on Tuesday against the Louisville Bats.

\”This is good news, and I haven’t been this excited in a really long time,\” said Bump, whose 8 wins and 2.63 ERA were the best on Camden’s roster. \”This is my opportunity, and I’ve got to make the most of it now that I’ve got it,\” he added.
Bump, a former first-round draft pick for the San Francisco Giants, is no stranger to AAA baseball, as he has had multiple stints with the Albuquerque Isotopes, an affiliate of the Florida Marlins. He has also found success at the major league level, pitching for Florida. Most notably, he appeared in 32 games, registering a 4-0 record, with a 4.71 ERA during the 2003 season.

Bump, a Penn State alumnus, also takes a considerable amount of postseason experience with him to Toledo. In 2003, he recorded two appearances in the National League Championship Series, picking up a win against the Chicago Cubs, en route to the 2003 World Series Championship for the Florida Marlins.
