Gloucester City School District Receives ARRA Food Grants

Gloucester City School District officials excitedly announced receiving several grants that will assist in food preparation and food availability for its students in the coming school year.

A food service equipment grant, as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, was awarded.

An overwhelming amount of grant requests were submitted throughout the state, far exceeding the amount of funding allocated to New Jersey.

Gloucester City was fortunate to have $20,947 awarded for six convection ovens and one flat top stove for two schools, Cold Springs and Mary Ethel Costello schools, spokesperson Lynda Lathrop said.
