Suspect Arrested for Oak Valley NJ Arson

Bret A. Henderson (DOB 6/21/66), of 1 Haggas Ave. in the Oak Valley section of Deptford Township NJ has been arrested on arson and aggravated assault charges stemming from a 6/14/15 fire at his Deptford residence that injured a township firefighter.

Henderson was taken into custody 6/22/15 in Gwinnett County, GA by officers of the U.S. Marshal’s Service. He has waived extradition to New Jersey and is expected to be returned to Gloucester County, where he will be held without bail.

VIDEO RELEASE: COAST GUARD RESPONDS TO SINKING SAILBOAT OFF ANNAPOLIS, MD.

 

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard responded to a sailboat taking on water Tuesday at the mouth of the South River.

Coast Guard Sector Baltimore watchstanders received a report from a crewmember aboard a 44-foot sailboat via VHF-FM channel 16 at approximately 7 p.m. stating the sailboat was taking on water.

A crew aboard a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium from Coast Guard Station Annapolis was in the area and diverted to respond.

Once on scene two Coast Guard crewmembers boarded the sailboat, bringing with them a pump to assist in the de-watering efforts.

The remaining Coast Guard members aboard the RBM escorted the sailboat to Selby Bay Yacht Basin, where it is now moored.

No injuries were reported.

CNB Hunting/Fishing Delaware: Georgetown man fined for harvesting deer out-of-season

 

GEORGETOWN (July 2, 2015) – DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers arrested a Georgetown man earlier this week, following an investigation into a report of two white-tailed deer being shot out of season.

William Betts, 25, was charged June 29 with two counts each of hunting white-tailed deer during a closed season, possession of unlawfully taken antlered deer and wanton waste of a game animal. He pled guilty to all six charges in Justice of the Peace Court 3 in Georgetown. Betts was fined $3,442 and had his Delaware hunting privileges revoked for two years.

NY Democrat Senate Leader Sentenced to Prison for Bribing New York City GOP Party Leaders

Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that former New York State Senate leader MALCOM SMITH was sentenced today to seven years in prison for bribing New York City Republican Party leaders, including Queens County Republican Party Vice Chairman VINCENT TABONE, as part of a scheme to allow SMITH, a Democrat, to run as a Republican candidate for New York City Mayor in 2013 and for his role in obtaining New York State funding for a real estate project in Spring Valley, New York, in exchange for cash bribes paid on his behalf to the New York City Republican Party officials. TABONE was sentenced to 42 months in prison for receiving bribes and witness tampering. Both were convicted after a three-and-a-half week jury trial before U.S. District Judge Kenneth M. Karas, who imposed today’s sentences.

DNREC’s Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police encourages safe boating practices

\"Natural-Resources-Police-Marine-Patrol-Mike\"DOVER (July 1, 2015) – With many boaters heading out on the water for the long 4th of July holiday weekend, DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police advises \”steady as she goes\” for practicing safe boating on Delaware waterways. \”We need everyone on our waterways to be alert, use common sense and avoid actions that will put themselves, their passengers and other boaters at risk,\” said Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police Chief Robert Legates.

 Recent statistics from the U.S. Coast Guard show the top five primary contributing factors for boating accidents are operator inattention, improper lookout, operator inexperience, excessive speed and alcohol use. With these factors in mind, Cpl. John McDerby, Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police boating safety coordinator, offered some tips to keep in mind for safe boating:

CNB CRIME: Guns and Drugs Trigger Multiple Arrests on Bridges to Canada

BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Buffalo made 10 seizures of narcotics and firearms at local border crossings over the past weekend.

CBP officers at Peace Bridge, seized a handgun from a 35-year-old male U.S. citizen male, who was arrested and turned over to the New York State Police. Officers also encountered a 62-year-old male in possession of 18.4 grams of marijuana and a 30-year-old male in possession of 34 oxycodone pills without a prescription. Both subjects were arrested and turned over to the Buffalo Police Department along with the drugs.
