Family and Friends of Overdose Victim Attack Gloucester City Police and Ambulance Crew

Gloucester City Police had to fight their way into a Warren Street home on November 8, 2015, to help ambulance\"\" personnel who were there trying to treat an overdose victim.

According to police on that date at 10: 45PM officers responded to a residence on the 200 block of Warren Street to assist Our Lady of Lourdes EMS. They advised officers that they were attempting to treat a patient of an overdose when the victim’s brother began to interfere and then threatened to stab them with scissors. Officers arrived and located the victim’s brother out front. The suspect immediately became combative and attempted to strike officers with a closed fist.

As officers attempted to place the suspect, Coty Pool (28), under arrest, the original victim and two females attempted to interfere by grabbing at the officers and pushing them away. The suspect fled into the residence. As officers attempted to chase after him, the two females began to block the doorway in another attempt to prevent officers from making an arrest. Both were pepper sprayed at this time and officers were able to make entry into the residence. Pool then picked up a toddler and held the child in front of his body in an attempt to prevent officers from arresting him.
