WOODBURY NJ JUNE 22, 2015–Troy A. Simpson (DOB 6/14/94), of Pennsville NJ pleaded guilty today to possession of a handgun without a permit after his arrest while attempting to sell the weapon to an undercover police investigator in Deptford Township on 1/29/14.

In a negotiated plea, Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Alec Gutierrez will recommend that Simpson be sentenced to three years in New Jersey state prison. Under the agreement, he will have to serve one year before becoming eligible for parole.

Simpson arranged for the sale of the 22 cal. revolver in responding to a Craigslist ad placed by a law enforcement officer who claimed to be looking for a gun.

 Superior Court Judge Kevin T. Smith accepted Simpson’s plea and scheduled sentencing for Sept. 18.

President Obama recently acknowledged what every sane person knows to be true: The best anti-poverty program is a job. Obama said this at a recent conference on poverty.

But he continues to repeat a falsehood over and over. This is the claim that the poor work just as hard as the rich do. Well, yes, many people in poor households heroically work very hard at low wages to take care of their families. No doubt about that. Yet the average poor family doesn’t work nearly as much as the rich families do. And that’s a key reason why these households are poor.
