Mike A. Moffit, on June 9, 2015, of Runnemede. Age 51.

Beloved son of George and Joan (nee Helinek) Moffit, Sr. Devoted brother of George Moffit, Jr. (Marie) and Debbie Moffit. Loving uncle of Jennifer and Christopher Moffit. Dear nephew of Robert Helinek (Lori). Also survived by many cousins and friends.

Mike loved spending time at The Vault in Runnemede with all of his friends.

There will be a viewing from 9 to 11am on Saturday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Funeral mass 12pm at Holy Child Parish, St. Maria Goretti RC Church, 321 Orchard Avenue, Runnemede, NJ. Interment private at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s name to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.

The new bridge is open to rail traffic, but the mechanism needed to lift the bridge to allow boat traffic under it isn\’t ready. That means boaters cannot navigate the creek beyond Jefferson Street.

Construction on the new bridge began in July 2014. At the time, officials reported that construction had been delayed over regulations regarding fish migration.

West Trenton, N.J. – The New Jersey State Police announced today that 32 people were arrested, including a police officer and public works employee, in the takedown of two independent drug trafficking organizations operating out of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Detectives recovered from both organizations more than 4 kilograms of cocaine, over three ounces of heroin, 16 pounds of marijuana, 1,000 Xanax pills, Oxycotin and ecstasy pills, a large variety of steroids, one handgun, seven vehicles, and more than $125,000 cash. 

The bill ( S2484) is scheduled for a vote in the state Assembly today, Thursday. The state Senate unanimously approved it in December.

 Introduced by Sen. Richard Codey (D-Essex), the proposal calls for the state to study the potential health benefits of starting middle and high school students\’ days later, as well as the negative academic consequences of sleep deprivation.

Thanks to cooperative interstate arrangements established over the past 35 years, New Jersey now has several successful coolwater fisheries programs. These include Tiger Muskellunge (1979), Northern Pike (1981), Walleye (1989), and Muskellunge (1993). The programs began with eggs procured from other state\’s fish culture facilities, including those operated by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, New York DEC, and even the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. The donated eggs were hatched at the Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery, grown to fingerling sizes and stocked in suitable lakes. In the years to follow regional biologists sampled growing populations using gill nets, trapnets and electrofishing gear.
