Reminder for the week: Hunters should ‘get the lead out’ for waterfowl season

 

DOVER (Nov. 21, 2014) – To achieve public compliance through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife Enforcement Natural Resources Police officers between Nov. 11-17 made 1,243 contacts with anglers, hunters, boaters and the general public, including five vessel boardings for boating safety and fishing regulation compliance checks. Agents responded to 70 complaints and issued 65 citations, one of which was related to increased Fish & Wildlife Enforcement presence at the C&D Canal Conservation Area and associated recreational trail.

 

 

On November 23, 2014, Evelyn Savino (nee Fabrizi) passed away following a brief illness at the age of 89, Formerly of Philadelphia, PA and Marlton, NJ. She was most recently a resident of Twining Manor, Holland, PA.

Loving and devoted wife of 60 years to the late Louis A. Savino. Loving mother of Louis T. Savino, Jr., Esq. (Whitney) and Lorraine Sikora (Thomas) of Newtown, PA. Cherished grandmother of Christopher Sikora and Ava Jolie Savino. Predeceased by her loving grandchildren Louis T. Savino, III and Allison Savino. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, November 28th at 10 a.m. at The Olde Church of Saint Andrew: 135 South Sycamore Street, Newtown, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. in the Church. Private Interment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Twining Village Benevolent Care Fund, 280 Middle Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966 (note Evelyn Savino on check).

Getting something for nothing is a pretty sweet deal. At least if you’re the one getting something. Not so much if you’re the one receiving nothing in exchange. Oil and gas companies are getting gas from federal lands and paying nothing for at least some of it. At least that what’s we documented this week.

Oil and gas companies drilling on federal lands have avoided paying in excess of $380 million in royalties on the gas they have extracted over the past eight years. That’s a lot of money and it could be a lot more, because it’s based on self-reported data provided by the oil and gas industry. And that’s a lot of gas. By the American Natural Gas Alliance standards, the amount of royalty-free gas either consumed as fuel or lost by operators would be enough to meet the needs of every household in the State of New York for a year.

MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Holiday shopping is underway for many Americans and according to a recent survey from Capital One, they\’ll once again be doing much of their buying online. The survey found that while more than half (55 percent) of shoppers plan to go to a mall or local stores to buy their gifts, a large number (36 percent) will be searching and buying online. While neither mode of shopping is immune to fraud, there are steps consumers can take to protect themselves as they hustle and bustle.
