TAXPAYERS FOR COMMON SENSE

California may be dubbed the \”Golden State\” but when you look at the drought monitor map, it’s more like the dark brown state. Indeed, nearly 60 percent of the state is in \”exceptional\” drought – the most severe category – and more than 80 percent is in \”extreme\” drought, the next level down.To put that into perspective, one year ago none of the state was in the exceptional category, and only a little over 10 percent was experiencing extreme drought (though truth be told, 85 percent was already in \”severe\” drought).

PHILADELPHIA—Alexander Burke, 58, of Bristol, England, and formerly of Upper Montclair, New Jersey, was charged today by Indictment with conspiring to commit wire fraud and money laundering, and with substantive wire fraud and money laundering violations, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.

The Indictment alleges that Burke and another attorney engaged in a scheme to defraud Company A, a company in Malvern, Pennsylvania, by billing the company for legal work not done and splitting the resulting payments from Company A. Burke was a patent attorney for Company A, and as part of his job he was permitted to hire outside counsel to draft patents, respond to patent office actions, and to write appeals in patent cases. UPDATED: The Gloucester City Police Department just announced that the missing juvenile has been located. 

The missing juvenile listed earlier, Rachel Morrow, has been located and is fine. We appreciate everyone\’s help with sharing the information.

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ–Earlier today the Gloucester City Police posted the following information about a missing juvenile on their social network. 

On October 20th. at 6:45 am a juvenile was reported missing by her parents. Sometime after midnight, Rachel Morrow (age 12), got dressed and left her residence. At this point her destination is unknown. Rachel is 4\’6\” tall and weighs approximately 68 lbs. She may be wearing a pink windbreaker and pink sneakers. If anyone has any information concerning her whereabouts or has had contact with Rachel, please contact police at (856) 456-0900.

One of the basic roles of a school board member is to oversee the spending of school funds. Each of us has chaired committees to ensure that wise spending occurs so that our children are supplied with the tools necessary to compete in the ever-changing world today. Newly innovative programs have been introduced under our watch; programs such as college ready on-line classes and after school activities, including tutoring, robotics and Legomania. They certainly play an important role for the children and the parents of this community. We, as active school board members, have also ensured our constituents that the right people are placed in the right positions to oversee these programs.
