CNB Medical: Plaques Detected in Brain Scans Forecast Cognitive Impairment

Newswise — DURHAM, N.C. — Brain imaging using radioactive dye can detect early evidence of Alzheimer\’s disease that may predict future cognitive decline among adults with mild or no cognitive impairment, according to a 36-month follow-up study led by Duke Medicine.

The national, multicenter study confirms earlier findings suggesting that identifying silent beta-amyloid plaque build-up in the brain could help guide care and treatment decisions for patients at risk for Alzheimer\’s. The findings appeared online March 11, 2014, in Molecular Psychiatry, a Nature Publishing Group journal.

$\"Wil$ Over the last few weeks I have written about the decision our City government recently made to change a vital healthcare service for our community. My concerns about privatizing our ambulance service and those of other citizens were evident by the many questions asked at the City Council Meeting last Thursday night.

Unfortunately, the answers were fewer than the amount of questions asked, which leaves me to draw the following conclusions:

a.) Our governing body doesn’t know all the answers involved with their decision

b.) Our governing body believes they are above answering the public’s questions or sharing information with their constituents

c.) Our governing body is reluctant to share information with the public because of potential negative feedback

Court examines state’s role in NJ public record requests

Gov. Chris Christie and New Jersey Watchdog will battle in appeals court Thursday in a case that could change how the state cooperates with citizens who ask for public records.

Under Christie, the state Open Public Records Act often resembles a shell game. The governor’s office can reject requests without explaining why. Requestors must choose whether to walk away or bet on an appeals process that’s often lengthy and potentially costly.

NJ State Police Need Your Help

The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public\’s assistance in identifying two men suspected of multiple fraudulent purchases with a stolen credit card and debit cards.

On October 13, 2015, the victim noticed suspicious charges on her bank account. While trying to locate the credit/debit cards, she discovered that they were missing and suspect that the cards were stolen from her vehicle.

Purchases with the stolen credit/debit card were made at the following locations:
