As a kid growing up in Gloucester City in the 50\’s and 60\’s, it was always there beckoning to you. You never quite understood what it was, but you could feel it every time you walked down most any street in town. There was always this vibe in the air—a tingling sensation. You couldn\’t quite put you finger on it, but you knew it was there.

Last week a truly unbelievable set of events took place at the Courier Post that we find
astonishing. First, political reporter Jane Roh used the social media platform Twitter to announce George Norcross was sitting on the editorial board for three months. For the majority of subscribers who don’t use Twitter, it would stand to reason the Courier Post would make an announcement the following day in their own paper, which leads to the second event (or in this case non event); there did not seem to be an official announcement, warning or editorial on why and how Mr. Norcross came to sit on the editorial board. In fact, this editorial may be the first time your readers have become publicly informed.
It would seem only fair since Mr. George Norcross joined the Courier Post editorial board in this fashion that we seek in a very public and clear voice the same opportunity to balance Mr. Norcross’s view by requesting to sit on the editorial board for the same amount of time. We find it chilling that a man many know as one of the most powerful political figures in New Jersey, a person who has never been elected to office, yet under whose 20 year dominance as an old school political boss the City of Camden has fallen into a deep dark pit, was afforded the option of having his views printed for free in your newspaper.

TRENTON — Former NFL wide receiver Irving Fryar was sentenced to state prison Friday after conspiring with his 74-year-old mother to defraud financial institutions out of more than $1.2 million, authorities said. Actually, the more common term is \”use it or lose it\” and you can bet that phrase was used around federal agencies for the last month or so. Much of the cash doled out through discretionary spending expires at the end of the fiscal year. Agencies are loath to leave any money unspent, afraid that doing so will lead budget makers to reduce future funds by that amount. So buy that copier, purchase more pens, award a contract, just spend it before midnight on September 30!

Pennsylvania Game Commission wishes bowhunters safe days afield.
Pennsylvania’s archery deer season begins Saturday, Oct. 3, and its return is prompting the Pennsylvania Game Commission to issue some helpful reminders.
Archers statewide can hunt for antlered or antlerless deer from Oct. 3 to Nov. 14, and during the late archery deer season, which runs from Dec. 26 to Jan. 9.
At the time of the statewide opener, archery hunters in three urbanized areas of the state will have had a two-week head start to their seasons. An early season for antlered and antlerless deer was implemented in Wildlife Management Units 2B, 5C and 5D, and that season kicked off on Sept. 19.

BLOOMFIELD — A New Jersey animal control officer has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly slashing the throat of a baby deer, killing it.
