TRENTON – Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman announced that the former treasurer of the Seaville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company was sentenced today for stealing $19,000 by using fire company funds to reimburse himself for personal expenses. The fire company’s former chief was sentenced to prison earlier this month for separate thefts from the fire company.

There’s a lot of media attention given to the Social Security and Medicare promises made to Baby Boomers. Will these aging Americans actually get all the benefits that Uncle Sam has promised them? It’s difficult to say, and it’s looking more dubious by the day.

But C. Eugene Steuerle, a senior fellow at the Urban Institute, wanted to understand what Social Security is going to look like for Millennials when they reach retirement.

It’s no secret, after all, that members of our generation are paying a lot of money into the system with no guarantee that they’ll get it back. And one out of every four young Americans believes that our generation won’t actually get retirement benefits from it.

WOODBURY NJ–Rico P. Purnell (DOB 4/27/93), of Camden NJ pleaded guilty today (9/24) to second-degree possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, admitting he had a handgun when a Deptford Township NJ police officer stopped a car in which he was a passenger on 8/30/13.

In a negotiated plea, Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Joseph More will recommend that Purnell be sentenced to five years in New Jersey state prison. Under the state’s Graves Act, Purnell must serve three years of the sentence before he can be considered for parole.
