Clifton apparel firm apologizes; Lord Ganesh underwear removed after Hindu protest

Clifton (New Jersey) headquartered apparel label Customon has apologized and withdrawn thong and panty carrying image of Hindu deity Ganesh after Hindu protest; which called it “highly inappropriate”.

Sarah D. from Customon, in an email to Hindu statesman Rajan Zed (who spearheaded the protest), wrote: “We do apologize for such an inconvenience and thank you for your notification that allowed us to take action”… “the subject design belongs to a third party designer…the designer is going to get a warning”. The objectionable products were not found on the Customon website when searched today.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, thanked Customon and Sarah D. for understanding the concerns of Hindu community which thought images of Lord Ganesh on such products were highly insensitive.

Rajan Zed suggested that Customon and other companies should send their senior executives for training in religious and cultural sensitivity so that they had an understanding of the feelings of customers and communities when introducing new products or launching advertising campaigns.

Zed had said that Lord Ganesh was highly revered in Hinduism and was meant to be worshipped in temples or home shrines and not to adorn one’s crotch. Inappropriate usage of Hindu deities or concepts or symbols for commercial or other agenda was not okay as it hurt the devotees.

Hinduism was the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about 1.1 billion adherents and a rich philosophical thought and it should not be taken frivolously. Symbols of any faith, larger or smaller, should not be mishandled, Rajan Zed had noted.

Zed had stated that such trivialization of Hindu deities was disturbing for the Hindus. Hindus were for free artistic expression and speech as much as anybody else if not more. But faith was something sacred and attempts at trivializing it hurt the followers, Zed added.

In Hinduism, Lord Ganesh is worshipped as god of wisdom and remover of obstacles and is invoked before the beginning of any major undertaking.

Objectionable Ganesh Thong and Ganesh Pantie for women were both priced at $18.64 each. Ganesh Thong’s “Product Info” stated that “you can be sexy with this well-formed under garments”. Customon, which claims to be “one of the leading custom t-shirt digital printing and embroidery services in the industry”, has another office in Eatontown (New Jersey). Its products include t-shirts, tank tops, hoodies, sweatshirts, hats/caps, underwear, phone-cases, mugs, etc.

Dennis Barth Returns as Gloucester Catholic Baseball Coach

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (Dec. 13, 2019)– –Veteran baseball skipper Dennis Barth will return to Gloucester Catholic as head coach of a Rams’ program he helped to establish as one of the best in New Jersey over the past several decades.

Barth left GCHS in 2012 to serve as head coach at Rutgers-Camden, where he guided the program to the only two NJAC conference championships in school history. Barth replaces Adam Tussey, who resigned as Rams coach after four successful seasons.

“I’m excited to return as coach – everyone knows our high expectations here at Gloucester Catholic, and coach Tussey left a solid foundation that we will continue to build,” Barth said. “We have a proud tradition of winning here, and I know the program will continue to be successful.”

A former player at Gloucester Catholic and a 1980 graduate, Coach Barth has a long list of accomplishments, including:

or the owner of a high-usage aircraft, we’ve spotlighted a few points of aircraft maintenance that deserve extra attention to guarantee a safe and comfortable flight.

Grommets

Grommets are often used to protect

wires, tubing and control cables from continuous grating against any sharp edges within the plane. They are vital for preventing against potential smoke and fire hazards within an aircraft’s many electrical connections. Ill-fitting grommets have been the culprits behind cabin fires, lavatory leaks and more threats to crew and passenger well-being, which is why inspection is so essential for in-flight reliability and safety. Seals and O-Rings

There’s no arguing when it comes to aircraft maintenance and safety that seals play a vital role in almost every part of your plane.

The forces of attrition are basically the whole story for why your seals and o-rings need regular check-ups.

Attrition is the basic wear and tear on an aircraft during the time it\’s in service for. The five main factors that contribute most heavily to this depreciation include weather, friction, heat, overload and vibration.

Weather and its effects on aircraft can vary widely depending on the local climate (rainy, humid, snowfall, etc.) and each of these conditions will create a different outcome for each aircraft and its parts. Things such as decay, oxidation, moisture, rusting and corrosion are all possibilities and will require cleaning, examination and possible replacement for the continuation of aircraft operation.

Friction is another element of concern for aircraft safety. Friction can’t necessarily be completely avoided since like any machine, an aircraft has hundreds of moving parts that will come into contact with one another from time to time. However, this is where the need for effective sealing and lubrication plays an essential role in reducing the wear on each part. By using lubricated o-rings, higher pressure, temperatures and movement can be attained without compromising metal to metal parts such as in the engine.

NEA REPORT: Pennsylvania K-12 schools paid out $18,028 per student in 2017-18

Public schools in Pennsylvania spent $18,028 per student based on average daily attendance (ADA) figures, the eighth highest expenditure level among the 50 states and the District of Columbia,

according to a National Education Association report.

The change in public school expenditures per student based on ADA data from 2016-17 to 2017-18 stood at 2.73 percent, the NEA said.

Public education expenditures in the state would equal $16,838 per student based on fall 2017-18 enrollment totals, the NEA said. Nationwide, such education expenditures averaged $12,602 per student over the same time period. x

Philadelphia CBP Agriculture K9 Detects Prohibited Cheese Wrapped in Animal Skins

– A Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agriculture detector dog led to the seizure of nearly 16 pounds of unpasteurized cheese wrapped in unknown animal skins at Philadelphia International Airport November 16.

While inspecting travelers from a flight that arrived from Turkey, CBP agriculture K9 Potter alerted to a couple’s baggage. During a secondary examination, CBP agriculture specialists discovered five tanned animal skins balled up and stitched closed. Inside they discovered 7.1 kilograms, or 15 pounds, 10 ounces, of soft cheese. The skins and cheese were prohibited without veterinary certification due to the skins being a potential carrier of animal diseases. The skins and cheese were destroyed.

CBP agriculture specialists observe increases in prohibited agriculture products during the holidays when foreign nations bring traditional meals and products to celebrate with family in the United States.

The couple, who CBP released, were destined to an address in Burlington County, N.J.
