Gloucester City Native to be Named Atlantic 10\’s New Commissioner

The Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that Gloucester City native Bernadette McGlade (photo ) will be named the Atlantic 10’s new commissioner on Monday (June 2) at a Center City news conference. Since 1997 McGlade has been the associate commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

McGlade becomes the fifth commissioner in the A-10\’s 32-year history.

A native of Gloucester City, N.J., she earned both her undergraduate and post-grad degrees at North Carolina, where she played basketball as one of the first female scholarship athletes at that university.

She graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School where she was a star basketball player under legendary Coach Bert Nolan.
