Edmund Charles Crosby \”Ed\”, Gloucester City High School Class of 1960

He was in the Health and Life Insurance business for over 43 years and strived to be a mentor for many associates in the industry.

\”Eddie was like a member of my family–a big brother. I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. He was always willing to help whenever his assistance was requested. Always a smile, never a frown. He was a wonderful, kind, spiritual person,\” said a classmate, Barbara Heyne-Middleton.

\”We ran in the hole with the cost of a class reunion and held a fifty-fifty raffle. Ed won and donated the money back,\” recalled another classmate, Bill Tourtual. \”He was a really nice person to be around. He was a real good friend and always had a smile.\”

He was described by those who knew him well in Bakersfield as a \”football fanatic\” and was known to support many of the area\’s local teams. Ed was very active in his community serving as President on the Board of Directors for Kern Child Abuse Prevention Center. He dedicated countless hours to his church running Wednesday Night Bingo for over 15 years which earned him the nickname, \”Mr. Bingo\” Ed attended fundraisers every chance he had and was always the last one to leave. Friends described him as a man who helped others above and beyond what is asked of him and for his skill in the kitchen celebration or party he attended.

He was the son of Charles and Lena Crosby.

He had served the U.S. Navy and was a manager and Chief Officer of the Court in the Independent Order of Foresters

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Judy Crosby; two sons, Barron Crosby and wife Louisa and Duke Crosby. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Contessa; a sister, Marie Harvey of Woodbury,

Mass and Memorial Services were held in California.
