Philadelphia Man Charged with Defrauding $78,306 from Medicaid

HARRISBURG – Attorney General Kane today announced Medicaid fraud and other charges against a Philadelphia \"\"man for defrauding more than $82,000 by claiming to care for his brother when he was being cared for by a hospital, and after he died. 

The Attorney General\’s Medicaid Fraud Control Section presented evidence to a statewide investigating Grand Jury, which recommended charges against Terrance Jenkins, 61, 535 Mckinley St., Philadelphia.

According to the Grand Jury, Jenkins was responsible for providing care for his brother and was reimbursed through the Department of Public Welfare\’s Independence Waiver Program.

However, the Grand Jury found that Jenkins submitted fraudulent payment sheets for personal care attendant services for periods of time between May 2011 and June 2012 when his brother was actually receiving services at in-patient centers and hospitals. In addition, Jenkins allegedly continued to submit false claims for his brother for more than a year after he passed away on June 27, 2012.
