HARRISBURG – Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane today announced that after a thorough and independent review, no criminal charges will be filed in connection with the use of lethal force by an Easton Police Department officer on Oct. 24, 2014.
Following a comprehensive review by the Attorney General\’s Office of the investigation conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police, it has been determined that the Easton Police Department officer was justified in the use of force against Richard Scheuermann III. Scheuermann had led officers on a high-speed chase and had attempted to use his vehicle as a weapon against officers, repeatedly endangering their lives and the lives of others.
