Online Child Investigation Nabs Old Bridge Suspect; Vigilantes Interfere

OLD BRIDGE, NJ (CNBNews)( (April 16, 2026)–-Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera, Chief Thomas J. Montagna of the Old Bridge Police Department, and Chief Daniel Plumacker of the Sayreville Police Department announced today that Kevin Coposky, 39, of Old Bridge, has been arrested as a result of an online child exploitation investigation conducted by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Old Bridge Police Department received a tip from a concerned citizen regarding Coposky attempting to meet children online for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity. An investigation was conducted by Detective Ryan Hall of the Old Bridge Police Department, Detective Christopher Raub of the Sayreville Police Department and Detective Ken McGarry of the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit at the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. As a result of that investigation Coposky was charged.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit with the assistance from the Old Bridge and Sayreville Police Department arrested Coposky on April 15, 2026, without incident at his home in Old Bridge. Coposky was charged with third-degree Attempting to Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Coposky is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility pending the results of a Pre-Trial Detention hearing.

During the course of this ongoing investigation, a self-identified vigilante group independently contacted the suspect and publicly disseminated information regarding the encounter. These actions directly interfered with and impeded a sensitive, active criminal investigation. As a result, investigators were unable to fully develop critical evidence and pursue the full scope of potential charges.

Law enforcement strongly discourages members of the public from engaging in independent actions of this nature. Such conduct can compromise investigations, hinder the pursuit of justice, and ultimately impact the ability to hold offenders fully accountable. The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office remains committed to protecting victims and thoroughly investigating all allegations of this nature.

The investigation is active and continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Hall of the Old Bridge Police Department at 732-721-4000, Detective Raub of the Sayreville Police Department at 732-727-4444 or Detective McGarry of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3140.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Coposky are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
