Philabundance to Host Good Neighbor Day on May 16

Philabundance will embrace Good Neighbor Day America on Saturday, May 16, by hosting a Family Volunteer Day at its South Philadelphia warehouse at 3616 South Galloway Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19148. Family Volunteer Day includes two volunteer shifts happening from 9-11 a.m. and 12-2:20 p.m. Volunteers are encouraged to bring children ages 12 and over to participate.

“National Good Neighbor Day is a chance for us to celebrate not just America’s 250th anniversary, but the people who show up for their community,” said Loree D. Jones Brown, CEO of Philabundance. “Volunteers are the backbone of Philabundance. Thanks to the dedicated people who help us sort food, repack meals, and pack boxes, we can continue to fulfill our mission of driving hunger out of our communities today and end hunger for good.”

In partnership with City Serve, Love Has No Limits, and America250, Good Neighbor Day America is a movement to inspire 250 million acts of kindness in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. Through meaningful events like Philabundance’s Family Volunteer Day, organizations across the country come together to show compassion to Americans in need and build a stronger community for the future.

“America250 was created to unite Americans around our shared story, and Good Neighbor Day America is a powerful expression of that mission,” said Rosie Rios, chair of America250.” As we mark 250 years of our nation, there is no greater tribute than showing up for one another. Service is how we honor our past and shape our future.”
