Philadelphia PD Investigating Fata Incidents

PHILADELPHIA PA (CNBNews)(May 17,2026)–The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating two separate fatal incidents that occurred on Saturday evening, May 16, 2026, resulting in three deaths. The following information is preliminary and subject to change as both investigations remain active and ongoing.

Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in the 24th District

At approximately 11:36 PM, officers from the 24th District responded to a catastrophic two-vehicle collision at the intersection of K Street and East Hunting Park Avenue. Preliminary details indicate that a green 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound on East Hunting Park Avenue at a high rate of speed. As the Jeep approached the intersection, the driver disregarded a steady red traffic signal and struck a gold 2004 Lexus ES330, which was traveling southbound on K Street with a steady green light. The broadside impact caused catastrophic damage to the Lexus and severe front-end damage to the Jeep, leaving both vehicles disabled.

Emergency personnel from the Philadelphia Fire Department (PFD) arrived on the scene shortly after midnight on May 17, 2026. The driver of the Lexus, a 60-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 12:00 AM. PFD Medics rushed the passenger of the Lexus, a 55-year-old male, to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 12:15 AM.

The occupants of the Jeep sustained non-life-threatening injuries. PFD Medics transported the driver, a 23-year-old female, to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition with head trauma. The passenger, a 25-year-old male, was also taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition, suffering from a minor head laceration and general complaints of pain.

Fatal Shooting in the 15th District

Earlier that evening, at approximately 9:42 PM, 15th District officers responded to a radio call reporting a shooting on the 4700 block of Longshore Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 33-year-old male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Responding officers immediately transported the victim to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital. Despite medical efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 10:11 PM.

No arrests have been made in connection with either incident at this time. Updates will be provided as further information becomes available.
