Virtua Unveils Renovated Ronald McDonald Family Room

Virtua Voorhees Hospital will unveil the newly renovated Ronald McDonald Family Room for families whose babies are cared for in the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Tours of the Ronald McDonald Family Room will be available.

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are specialized, comfortable spaces located inside hospitals, often steps from pediatric or neonatal intensive care units. The rooms provide families with a quiet retreat during a stressful time. Amenities include snacks, showers, and computers, creating a calm, comforting, home-like environment.

In addition to the lounge-like space, the renovation included two rooms with beds so that families can be close to their NICU babies overnight.

“We are honored to re-dedicate this Family Room space, in partnership with Virtua Health and the Davis Family Foundation,” explained Tracey Sharp, executive director of Ronald McDonald House Southern New Jersey.  “We are committed to offering all pediatric families a comforting place to rest and recharge.”

Virtua representatives will meet members of the media and escort them to the NICU and Ronald McDonald Family Room. Please park in Parking Lot B and enter the hospital through Lobby B.

The renovation of the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Virtua Voorhees is made possible by the extraordinary generosity of the Davis Family Foundation, whose support ensures that families facing medical challenges have a welcoming place to stay close to their loved ones. Their commitment reflects the profound impact philanthropy can have on our community’s well-being.

Local Family Benefits from Generosity:

When Hayden Goldstein was born at Virtua Voorhees on January 19, 2026, he struggled to breathe and was immediately admitted to the NICU. His parents, Ally and Max, were understandably worried. Their anxiety only grew when a major winter storm arrived the same day Ally was preparing for discharge.

“The thought of going home without our baby was so scary, especially because of the storm,” Ally said. “Wewere so worried we wouldn’t be able to get back to Virtua for days.”

When a nurse told them about the newly renovated sleep rooms adjacent to the Ronald McDonald Family Room, they were instantly relieved. Ally and Max stayed there for three days—just steps from Hayden’s bedside in the NICU.

“It gives all of us great pleasure to remain involved with the Ronald McDonald House Southern New Jersey and to give the families of children who are patients at Virtua a quiet respite to rest or sleep, have a bite to eat, or just someplace to wait, other than the hospital waiting room,”  said Mitchell Davis, sponsor, Davis Family Foundation.  “Thank you for giving us this opportunity to support Virtua and the Ronald McDonald House Southern New Jersey.”
