Double Shooting Leaves One Critically Injured after Verbal Dispute

At approximately 2:42 AM, officers from the 25th District responded to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Room following the arrival of two walk-in gunshot victims. Preliminary findings indicate that a 23-year-old female and a 27-year-old female had left a local bar around 2:30 AM and were driving to drop the older female off at home. Approximately 15 minutes into their drive, a dark-colored sedan pulled alongside the passenger side of their vehicle. Following a brief verbal exchange between the 23-year-old victim and an occupant of the sedan, a suspect inside the dark vehicle opened fire. The suspect vehicle immediately fled the scene. Realizing her passenger was unresponsive and bleeding, the driver rushed to Temple ER. The 23-year-old driver is currently listed in stable condition with a gunshot wound to her left shoulder, while the 27-year-old passenger remains in critical condition with a gunshot wound to her left eye. The motive is currently unknown, no arrests have been made, and the Shooting Investigation Group is leading the ongoing investigation.

Party Shootout Leads to Armed Carjacking and Abduction

Earlier in the morning, at approximately 1:50 AM, officers responded to a violent carjacking stemming from a shootout near the 5000 block of Parkside Avenue. The complainant and three of his friends were sitting inside his black 2010 Nissan Maxima near a house party when two groups of males began trading gunfire directly in front of his car. The driver ducked for cover, and upon looking up, was ambushed by two to four of the males involved in the shootout. The suspects forced their way into the vehicle at gunpoint and ordered the complainant to drive away. After driving approximately two blocks, the driver was ordered to pull over on the 4800 block of Parkside Avenue, where he and his friends were forced out of the vehicle at gunpoint. The armed suspects then fled eastbound on Parkside Avenue toward 50th Street. Officers from the 14th District later located the abandoned vehicle parked on the 1800 block of Nolan Street. Fortunately, the victims were not physically harmed. Southwest Detectives are currently handling the ongoing investigation.

Ride-Share Driver Shot in Attempted Robbery

Upon arrival, officers located a 38-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound to her left shoulder and immediately transported her to Temple Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition. Investigators learned that the victim, a ride-share driver, was parked and waiting to pick up a passenger when she was approached by two males. One of the suspects tapped on her driver-side window with a small handgun. Without a word exchanged, the victim immediately attempted to drive away to escape, prompting the suspect to fire a shot through her window, striking her shoulder. The suspects fled westbound toward 29th Street, while the victim managed to drive to 28th Street to wait for emergency personnel. The motive has been determined as robbery. The suspects are described as two males in their late teens to early 20s with slim builds, wearing all-black clothing and masks.
