PHILADELPHIA PA (July 19, 2026) (CNBNews)--The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating three separate overnight and early morning incidents—a double shooting, a high-speed car crash, and a daytime stabbing—that occurred on Sunday, July 19, 2026. The following information is preliminary and subject to change as updates become available.
At approximately 2:45 AM, 2nd District officers and emergency personnel responded to a critical-injury, two-vehicle crash on the 7600 block of Roosevelt Boulevard.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Unit #1, a gold 1999 Acura RL driven by a 30-year-old male, was traveling southbound in the outer lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the operator lost control. The Acura mounted the west curb line and plowed into the parking lot of the Roosevelt Inn, where it violently struck Unit #2, a legally parked and unattended white 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The impact propelled debris into the building, shattering the motel’s glass entrance door and an adjacent window. Both the Hyundai and the building sustained significant structural and property damage. Philadelphia Fire Department Medics responded and transported the driver of the Acura to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition with multiple injuries.
The Crash Investigation Division is leading the ongoing investigation.
Shortly after, at approximately 3:08 AM, 39th District officers responded to a radio call regarding a person with a gun and a report of a male shot on the highway on the 4400 block of N. Cleveland Street. Upon arrival, officers located the first victim, an unidentified adult male (John Doe), suffering from a gunshot wound to the left side of his body. Police immediately transported him to Temple University Hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition. Shortly after, a second victim, a 37-year-old male, arrived at Temple University Hospital via private vehicle with a gunshot wound to his left foot; he is listed in stable condition. Responding officers located and secured a shooting scene at the corner of N. Cleveland Street and W. Cayuga Street. No motive has been established, and the investigation remains active and ongoing with the Shooting Investigation Group.
Later that morning, at approximately 7:58 AM, 24th District officers responded to a stabbing incident on the highway at 8XX E. Allegheny Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a stab wound. Police transported the victim to Temple University Hospital in stable condition. No arrests have been made, and no motive has been established at this time.
