A 22-year-old New Jersey mother who was killed when her car crashed into a tree and burst into flames on Route 295 leaves behind a 5-year-old daughter, according to a fundraiser launched by her grieving family.

Aigner Johnson, of Oaklyn, died in the crash on Route 295 southbound in East Greenwich Township on Wednesday, Oct. 21, New Jersey State Police said. Now, loved ones are raising money to give her a proper farewell.

“Aigner was a loving girl with an amazing spirit, and everyone gravitated to her,” her aunt, Camilla Dowd, wrote on GoFundMe. “Her loss is heartbreaking for our family, and it is even harder knowing she leaves behind her beautiful 5-year-old daughter.”

Johnson was driving a Ford sedan near milepost 17.4 around 5:20 p.m. when the vehicle veered off the right side of the highway, struck a tree, and became fully engulfed in flames, NJSP Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Johnson was killed, while her 22-year-old passenger from Camden suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital.

Dowd launched the fundraiser to help Johnson’s parents, Monique Dowd and Braheem Johnson, cover funeral and burial expenses.

“My sister never expected to have to bury her 22-year-old daughter, and at this time she just wants to give her angel a proper, beautiful homegoing service,” Dowd wrote.

The fundraiser, titled “Help Bury Aigner Johnson,” had raised $985 toward its $6,500 goal. Click here to view the GoFundMe for Johnson’s family.
