Philadelphia Police: Accountability & Support for Officers’ Families

PHILADELPHIA, PA (October 14, 2026)(CNBNews)–On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Commissioner Bethel stated that Philadelphia Police Department remain unchanged.

The commissioner released the following statement:

“Our hearts and our focus are with Officer Shane Seiber’s family, our recovering officer and his family, and the men and women of this department grieving alongside them.

We will continue to examine every aspect of this matter, including the prior investigation and prosecution. Where accountability is warranted, we will act, as Commissioner Bethel has already demonstrated.

We will address the full record at a later time, but not now. Assigning blame while families are grieving does nothing to advance accountability or support those affected.

True leadership does not seek to assign fault in a moment like this. It stands with the families. And when the time comes, it holds itself to the same scrutiny it asks of others.

We will have more to say. Right now, these families deserve our attention, our support and our respect.
