Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw and Mount Laurel Police Department Chief Timothy Hundall announced that a gynecologist who specializes in reproductive medicine has been charged with sexually assaulting three patients during appointments at his Mount Laurel office.
Jerome Check, 80, of Melrose Park, Pa., was charged with three counts of Sexual Assault (Second Degree). He was taken into custody in September and released following an appearance in Superior Court in Mount Holly. The case is now being prepared for presentation to a grand jury for possible indictment.
The investigation revealed that the assaults occurred between December 2024 and March 2025 when Check, a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, was alone in the examination room with the victims during their appointments.
The investigation further revealed that two of the victims believed their visits would be informational only in nature and had not anticipated undergoing an invasive exam until Check indicated it was necessary.
Investigators continue to seek possible victims. Anyone who has relevant information concerning this defendant is urged to call the Prosecutor’s Office at 609-265-5035 and ask to speak to a detective in the Special Victims Unit or submit information online at https://burlpros.org/tips or tips@mountlaurelpd.org.
The investigation was conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office and the Mount Laurel Police Department. The lead investigators are BCPO Detective Megan Propati and MLPD Detective Jordan Christian. Check is being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Eife, supervisor of the BCPO Special Victims Unit.
