Pitman, NJ—Kean University senior forward Jonathan Jones (Linden, NJ/Linden) has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference \”Pony Wilson\” Men’s Basketball Player of the Year for the 2010-11 season. His selection highlighted the 15-member 2010-11 NJAC men’s basketball all-conference team which was announced on February 22. All selections were made via a vote of the league’s 10 head coaches.
A three-time all-conference selection, Jones currently leads the NJAC in scoring (24.9 points per game), rebounding (14.2 per game) and field goal percentage (.594). A six-time NJAC Player of the Week selection, Jones ranks as the NCAA Division III national leader in both rebounding and double-doubles (23) as of the latest NCAA statistics through games of February 13. Against NJAC competition, he finished the conference season as the leader in both scoring (25.5 points per game) and rebounding (14.2 per game), while ranking second in the conference in field goal percentage (.611).
