John Murphy pitched eight innings of shutout ball and John Brue was the offensive star with three hits and three RBIs as Brooklawn Red blanked Flemington 6-0 in a winner’s bracket game of the Senior American Legion Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament in West Lawn, Pa., Saturday night.
Brooklawn (53-3) held a 3-0 lead after five innings and tacked on three more runs between the eighth and ninth. Brue finished 3-for-5 with a triple to lead an 11-hit attack.
The Brookers are the only unbeaten team left in the double-elimination tournament. They will face Doylestown, Pa., on Sunday. Flemington, which lost to Brooklawn in last weekend’s state finals, will play Spring City, Pa., in an elimination game Sunday as well.
