(CNBNEWS.NET)Construction work on the Broadway Bridge (above) between Gloucester City and Brooklawn is moving along. As of Friday, August 3, 2012 the construction crew had removed the sidewalk and bridge railing on the east side of the structure. During the past week employees from Public Service Gas and Electric continued to move the Broadway utility poles away from the immediate construction site.

The $4.15 million project includes the demolition of the existing structure and construction of a new bridge — including new abutments, bridge span, decking and parapets. The project also features new bridge approaches, new pedestrian sidewalks, new guide rails, \"P1070360\" traffic striping and roadway markings.

Take a short ride north on Broadway towards center city Gloucester City and you\’ll find construction crews (photo taken August 1, 2012) working on repaving Monmouth Street from Broadway west to Johnson Blvd. Besides a new street, workers are also installing new water and sewer pipes. The Monmouth Street Business District remains open during the construction work. In the distant is Saint Mary Church.
