Fish & Wildlife Enforcement investigating boat sinking in Indian River Inlet
DOVER (Nov. 12, 2014) – DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife Enforcement Natural Resources Police officers are investigating a boating accident which occurred Monday evening, Nov. 10 in the Indian River Inlet, in which a large sportfishing boat sank.
According to Cpl. John McDerby of Fish & Wildlife Enforcement, the 38-foot twin-engine diesel Topaz with two persons on board struck the Inlet’s north side jetty and sank between 6:45 and 7 p.m. The passenger was treated at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes for facial cuts and a broken nose. The vessel’s operator was not injured.
