Senior Muhlenberg College student-athlete Erin DiSandro of Mount Laurel, NJ has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and will be attend medical school at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia after graduation.

Each year, the NCAA awards up to 126 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes who have completed their final year of athletics competition. The scholarships are distributed three times annually – in the fall, winter and spring – providing 21 total scholarships each to men and women per season. The award is a one-time, nonrenewable scholarship intended to support graduate study at an accredited institution.

DiSandro was one of only three field hockey players who earned the prestigious scholarship for the Fall 2025 season. A biology major and public health minor at Muhlenberg, DiSandro was named Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year last fall and is a three-time member of the CC Academic Honor Roll. She wrote about her experiences conducting summer research in both 2024 and 2025.

As accomplished on the field as she is in the classroom, DiSandro was a three-time All-CC and two-time all-region selection. On Muhlenberg’s all-time charts, she ended her career ranked fifth in points (94), eighth in goals (35), and second in assists (24), setting a school record with four assists in a game against McDaniel as a senior.

DiSandro is the 19th Muhlenberg athlete to earn an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, and the first since volleyball player Kelly Tornetta in 2019.

Established in 1964, the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship program promotes and encourages graduate education by recognizing the Association’s most accomplished student-athletes. The program evaluates candidates on their athletic and academic achievements, campus involvement, community service and leadership.

Founded in 1848, Muhlenberg is a highly selective, four-year residential, liberal arts college in the city of Allentown, Pa., with nearly 2,000 bachelor’s and master’s degree-seeking students and a high return on investment. The college’s curriculum and experiences are designed to open doors to new ideas, discoveries, friendships and a lifetime of personal and intellectual growth.
