Rowan Men’s Track & Field Win 11th Conference Title in a Row

MAHWAH, NJ — #1 Rowan ran away with its 24th New Jersey Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship and 11th title in a row on Sunday to cap the two-day meet hosted by Ramapo.

The Profs put together 319.33 points behind three-first place finishes on Saturday and eight more on Sunday. TCNJ was second with 213 points with host Ramapo in third (86.33).

Sunday’s action:

  • In the 110 meter hurdles, the Profs placed seven of the eight competitors in the finals which was won by Jason Agyemang (14.01)
  • Rowan sent six student-athletes to the 400 meter hurdles final which was won by Angel Gonzalez in a meet record and PR time of 51.26, which puts him at #2 in Division III
  • Joshua Justin won his second triple jump title with a top mark of 14.78 meters
  • Javion Payne (45.8 meters) and Paris Hamlin (44.12 meters) went 1-2 in the discus; Hamlin’s mark was a PR
  • David Brown was your champion in the high jump with a winning result of 2.09 meters
  • Dallas Hohney notched a top 5 Division III and PR time, as well as a meet record in winning the 800 meters (1:49.26)
  • Hohney joined Nick Garman, Blaik Slavinski, and Teddy Wilson to clock in at 3:14.70 to win the 4×400 relay
  • The 4×100 relay of Masai Byrd, Elijah Hendricks, Joudou Diawara, and Evan Corcoran tied a season-best time while also setting a meet record with a first-place finish (40.82)
  • Diawara was second in the 200 meters (21.17) where his time puts him just outside the top 20 in Division III

Saturday’s highlights:

  • Damitrius Hester broke his own school record in winning the javelin for the third year in a row; His mark of 73.38 is the new Division III all-time record as well
  • Josh Caudill won his first title in the hammer throw with a top mark of 50.80 meters
  • Ethan Plut claimed the pole vault as a freshman, topping out at 4.45 meters; Max Owens took third (4.30 meters)

Select members will head to Widener’s Last Chance meet on Monday, May 11th before the team competes at the AARTFC Regional Championships at Ursinus on May 13-14.
