
The Black Horse Pike/Route 168 southbound ramp to Route 42 southbound is scheduled be closed for approximately one week beginning Monday night in Gloucester Township, Camden County. In addition, the right lane on Route 42 southbound will be closed tonight to implement a long-term shoulder closure, which is expected to remain in place for approximately two weeks.
Black Horse Pike/Route 168 southbound to Route 42 southbound Ramp Closure
Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, May 11 until 6 a.m. Friday, May 15, the Black Horse Pike/Route 168 southbound ramp to Route 42 southbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured. The closure is necessary to replace beam guiderail and concrete curb on the ramp. Route 42 southbound Exit 10A to Black Horse Pike/Route 168 southbound will remain open. The following detour will be in place:

- Motorists on Black Horse Pike/Route 168 southbound wishing to take the ramp to Route 42 southbound will be directed to continue on Black Horse Pike/Route 168 southbound
- Turn left onto Coles Road
- Turn right to take the ramp to Route 42 southbound/Williamstown/Atlantic City
Route 42 southbound Overnight Lane Closure – Monday, May 11
Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, May 11 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, the right lane on Route 42 southbound is scheduled to be closed after Exit 10A until just past the ramp merge from Black Horse Pike/Route 168 southbound. The closure is necessary to place construction barrier and implement a long-term closure of the acceleration lane and the right shoulder on Route 42 southbound.
By 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, the right lane will reopen, and the acceleration lane and right shoulder on Route 42 southbound will remain closed to replace beam guiderail on Route 42 southbound.
By 6 a.m. Friday, May 15, the acceleration lane will be partially reopened, and a temporary stop sign will be placed at the end of the ramp. The temporary stop sign will improve safety for traffic on Route 42 southbound, as well as traffic merging onto Route 42 southbound. It also will increase safety for the workers in the construction zone, which will remain in place at the end of the acceleration lane and in the right shoulder.
Route 42 southbound Overnight Lane Closure – Thursday, May 21
Beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 21 until 6 a.m. Friday, May 22, the right lane on Route 42 southbound is scheduled to be closed after Exit 10A until just past the ramp merge from Black Horse Pike/Route 168 southbound. The closure is necessary to remove construction barrier and the temporary stop sign and to reopen the right shoulder, following the completion of guiderail replacement on Route 42 southbound.
Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution and expect delays when traveling through the work zone.
This work is part of a $6.3 million federally funded contract that will replace guiderail and attenuators at various locations throughout Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties.
Guiderail and attenuator replacement ensures the strength and reliability of transportation infrastructure to protect vehicles from exiting the roadway in the event of a crash or emergency, improving passenger safety.
